Nirrie Gopie

I have a MA in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, and I am certified by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I am also trained in Hypnotherapy, Expressive Arts, Nature Based Therapy, Cross Cultural and Transpersonal Therapy.

Experience

As a counsellor/therapist, I learnt very quickly to work with all ages and whatever issues surfaced. In order to meet the needs ongoing professional education and growth were the two constants in my life which I am grateful for. I place great value on the counsellor-client therapeutic relationship as this connection is crucial to healing and making progress. I create a non-judgemental space where every person can feel safe, accepted, understood and honoured. The modalities I use is based on what you respond to so it is fair to say that I am eclectic in my practice.

Therapeutic approach

I have experience and success with Quantum Healing, Spirituality, and Coaching. I have been practicing for over 20 years and many of those years were spent in the Northwest Territories where the focus was trauma-based therapies and on the land healing programs. The only referral a client could get was to a psychiatrist or doctor for medication - apart from this there was no one else to refer to.
